Data Sources

Open standards such as OPC/OLE/DDE permit any data source with connectivity to Windows applications to log data into an SQL server.  Device drivers can be developed for legacy devices to generate data streams for logging. Heterogeneous and asynchronous data streams can be time-stamped and/or logged with sequence numbers for later event synchronization.

  • Data sources examples include:
    • Register data from analog sources
    • PLC or process computers using OPC (e.g. any PLC accessible from Windows)
    • Motion control systems (e.g. electronic line shaft systems, machine controls)
    • Analog and digital signals
    • Sensors, e.g.
      • Station impression pressures
      • Web guide positions
      • Splice detectors
    • Vision System inspection data
    • Color measurements systems
